Wearing sunscreen when spending time in the sun is one of those skincare “rules” that we want to follow to try to protect our skin. This week in the blog, we are going to go though some tips and tricks on how to properly apply our new HydroGlow Daily mineral based sunscreen to help protect our skin while also avoiding a white cast so we can be glowy and hydrated all summer long! Tip 1: Make Sure You Are Using the Right Amount If you are applying our new HydroGlow Daily Moisturizing Niacinamide Mineral Sunscreen SPF 30 and are getting a white cast in return, you may be using too much! It is recommended to use the “two-finger method” of sunscreen to your face, meaning you put one line of SPF each on 2 fingers and use that amount all over the face, neck, ears, hairline and décolleté. This ensures that your skin is properly protected without applying too much. However, you should only apply 1 finger of SPF at a time and massage into the skin before applying the rest! Tip 2: Apply on One Section at a Time The next tip for applying SPF is to only apply a little sunscreen at a time. Sunscreen has a different application than other skincare products such as moisturizers or serums. To try to avoid a white cast, apply SPF one section at a time. For example, apply a little bit of SPF to one section of the face, such as the cheek, and wait until it is fully absorbed before going onto the next part of the face to ensure that you are not putting multiple layers on one section of the skin. Tip 3: Try Patting the Sunscreen Into Skin Instead of Rubbing Our next tip for mineral SPF application is to tap the product into skin instead of rubbing it in. Similar to applying foundation, if you tap and press the SPF into your skin instead of rubbing it in, you can help ensure even coverage and avoid a white cast. You can tap the sunscreen in with your hands, or you can use a Cameo Contour Blending Sponge or a Liquid Chisel Brush for a smooth application.   Tip 4: Layer Powder Over SPF Our last tip for avoiding a white cast on the skin is to lightly apply a powder on top of the SPF.
