Acne Awareness Month: Building Your Acne Prone Skincare Routine

Glistened and glazed skin rings another bell for those with oily, acne prone skin. Did you know that acne can occur at any stage of our lives and can affect anyone…on any part of their body? All this to say, we are here to help normalize acne prone skin care and makeup! There are ways to help acne prone skin this summer, and we will guide you through our very own acne prone skincare plus makeup routine.

Whether you have oily, dry, sensitive, or combination skin, PÜR Beauty has skincare products that can help keep your skin lookingonditioned and clean. Here’s what we suggest for a great summer skincareutine for acne prone skin:

Step 1: Cleanse. Then cleanse again.

Using a cleanser is the first item to focus on when building a solid summer skincare routine for acne prone skin. First, we suggest starting by taking off the day’s makeup, oil, dirt, and other daily impurities with our Melt Away Gel Oil Makeup Remover. This is a super gentle cleanser that helps break down daily impurities and makeup that may be difficult to remove, while providing hydration and not stripping skin of its natural oils. Apply a dime size amount of oil makeup remover to dry skin and massage in gentle circular motions to help break up stubborn dirt and impurities.

Next, it’s so important to double cleanse! We love to use PÜR’s Joystick Exfoliating Deep-Pore Cleanser during the summer due to its easy on-the-go packaging and skin-loving ingredients. Simply moisten the skin and apply Joystick Exfoliation Cleanser in circular motion around the face, highlighting the T-zone. Massage product into skin using hand—the cleanser will turn to a foam-based cleanser with water added. Splash face with water to wash off, and pat dry.

Step 2: Face Mask

After a double cleanse, spoil yourself with a face mask. Go ahead, and pour a glass of wine, too! (Wine is not necessary to get glowing skin but we think it helps with self-care vibes) Our Dirty Girl Detoxifying Face Mudd Masque with Pascalite Clay is a great skin care option for when you want to draw out pore-clogging impurities with gentle exfoliation and soothing botanical ingredients. After allowing the face mask to dry, simply rinse off and pat skin dry to reveal a smoother-looking, hydrated skin tone. Did you know that removing dead skin on a regular basis allows for your serum and moisturizer to better absorb into the skin more quickly? Now, you have a reason to pamper yourself with a skin care face mask at least twice a week!

Step 3: Serums

Now that skin is cleansed, let us introduce you to the product of the season: PÜR’s Ceretin Serum Age-Defying Concentrate. This skin-loving serum will help brighten, moisten, and improve the appearance of uneven skin tone and texture. This serum is formulated with an encapsulated blend of Retinol, Lactic Acid, Shea Butter, and a Ceramide, that gently helps promote healthy skin renewal while helping to diminish the look of fine lines and wrinkles. It’s also gentle enough to be used both morning and night, which is why we recommend adding this serum into your daily acne prone skincare regimen. To apply, pump a pea-sized amount to hands and massage into skin with circular motions. Allow product to soak into skin before adding any additional products.

We also want to highlight the importance of including an eye cream into your daily skincare routine. Tone Up Total Eye Fitness Serum is a go-to favorite with lightweight, cooling antioxidant rich formula that helps reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, dark circles, and crow’s feet. Apply a small amount to the tip of your ring finger and tap along eyes morning and night to see best results.

Step 4: Moisturize

After 45 seconds to a minute has passed and the serum has set into skin, let’s add moisture. People who have acne prone skin know how frustrating it can be with adding moisture to already oily skin. That’s why we recommended our Soak It Up Intense Hydrating Moisturizer, an oil free, dewy cream that deeply hydrates skin for a radiant-looking complexion.

If you’re following this step-by-step acne prone skincare routine at night, voila, it’s time to wrap up and get some sleep! The beauty of this skincare routine is it can be used both morning and night. If you’re following along in the morning, now is the time to apply an SPF, primer and foundation to skin for an effortless skincare and makeup routine.

Prime & Apply Make Up:

Why use a primer? Great question! A primer helps makeup products sit effortlessly on top of skin, helping to prevent products from steeping and settling inside fine lines and wrinkles. A makeup primer is a go-to product to help achieve buttery smooth looking makeup styles. Our 4-in-1 Correcting Primer Dark Spot Corrector is a great option for acne prone skin because it is skincare-infused makeup and is created with ingredients such a Retinol and Shae Butter. Apply a few drops of our 4-in-1 Correcting Primer Dark Spot Corrector onto clean and moisturized skin and massage into skin until dry.

For our final step, (and we’ve saved the very best for last), try our best selling 4-in-1 Pressed Mineral Makeup Broad Spectrum SPF 15 Powder Foundation with Skincare Ingredients. This foundation was voted best powder foundation for acne prone skin by the LA Times’ Bestcovery column! Our award-winning 4-in-1 pressed mineral powder foundation offers medium, buildable coverage with a natural finish. Using a makeup brush, pick up product in circular motions, then apply to face and neck in circular motions. Continue this cycle until desired coverage is met. Spray your favorite finishing spray to lock in your look and head out to conquer the day!
